Settling In Your Child

Kids 4 Us Nursery and After School Kids Club in Madeley, Telford want children to feel safe and happy in the absence of their parents.

We want them to recognize other adults as a source of authority, help and friendship and to be able to share with their parents afterwards the new experiences in Nursery and After School Kids Club
In order to accomplish this we will:

  • Encourage parents to visit nursery with their children during the weeks before an admission is planned
  • Make clear to families from the outset that they will be supported in the Nursery / Kids Club for as long as it takes to settle their child
  • Reassure parents whose children seem to be taking a long time to settle into Nursery and After School Kids Club
  • Encourage parents, where appropriate, to separate from their children for brief periods at first gradually building up to longer absences.
  • On the children’s registration form we ask for their religion, any favourite toys, foods, activities they enjoy, comforts, brothers or sisters names and also if they have any special needs, this information about your child can help to settle your child in.

Children cannot play or learn successfully if they are anxious and unhappy. Our settling in policy aims to help parents help their children to feel comfortable in Nursery, to benefit from what it has to offer and to be confident that their parents will return at the end of the day.

All children are different and whilst some children will settle very quickly others need a little more time and attention. Kids 4 Us Nursery and After School Kids Club will work closely with the parent’s/carers of a child to ensure that their settling in period is as smooth as possible.
